Science

The science department’s mission at Castle Mead is for all pupils to have an appreciation of the beauty and wonder of science; all learners will be provided with the vital foundations for understanding the world through the specific disciplines of Biology, Chemistry and Physics.  In an environment of dedication, hard work and integrity, the pupils are taught a knowledge rich curriculum, scientific methods and processes, but will also develop key skills such as observation, communication and critical thinking. Our aim is to create scientifically literate citizens who can engage in an informed way with scientific issues that affect them and society. Our ambition is that students will be capable of applying their scientific knowledge to new and varied situations, but also to utilise the methodologies of scientific enquiry and competency in practical skills, so they are infused with curiosity and are encouraged to ask further questions about the natural world.
